When looking for ideas for our wall designs I first started off with reading through the statement that the AMP class gave us to work with. I began highlighting and circling different words that stood out to me that may be clues and design ideas on how to approach the wall sign for this exhibition. Some of the words that stood out to me were contradictions, diversities, objections, rediscover, complexities, spectrum, reject, constraints, declare, active, and recuperate. All of these words in the statement are very powerful words that are hoping to present a wide variety of depictions of what the human body can look like. With that idea, I came across Western Washington University Reinvent Exhibition. For their wall signage, they combined a serif and san serif font together to create the title of the show. I thought this could be an interesting way to approach the idea of contradicting standards of what the human form should look like. The other idea that I had was taking words from the AMP statement designing them into the wall and from those words taking the letters to spell out contrary bodies. A design example that I came across was the Home Affairs Bureau which took a similar approach. The last design that I was intrigued about was for the Masters of Design Exhibition. I was particularly drawn to the poster that had the words Your Work Shouldn't Be Here crossed out. I think this could be an interesting take on making a change towards how the TMA is taking a fresh and critical look at their collection to celebrate broader diversity.
