 The project that I am developing for the third art assignment is a self-reflection on how identity is influenced by the past and the present. Some of the questions that came to mind when brainstorming about the theme of identity were: to what extent do individuals inherit or receive their identities? How do the legacies of older generations influence our identities? Every person has a story on how they came to be, here in the present moment. We owe a part of who we are to the choices our families and other important people in our lives have made as well as the choices made by even older generations. These choices formulate a legacy that influences our identities, our circumstances, and in turn the choices we make. Upon further investigation, we might also find personal connections to the history of our communities, nation, and world. Everything is interconnected.
