NMDP Externship Design Campaign
One design campaign that I have been really impressed by is the Longines Masters horse show design campaigns that have promoted the multi-city horse shows. These were the first posters that incorporated two of the greatest passions in my life, horses, and graphic design. Seeing the two come together has inspired me and it is a goal for me in the future to have a job that works within the design field catered to equestrians. I have been particularly impressed by the designs that were featured in 2016 and 2019. In the 2016 Longines Masters posters, I really like the use of simple geometric forms that form elements of the horse, rider, and objects and architecture that suggests the location of the event. I also am drawn to the color palette that is used in across the three poster designs. The other design campaign that I was drawn to that was done for the Longines Masters horse shows in 2019. In this series of designs, I really appreciate the playfulness of the colors that are used in the posters highlighting the vibrance and energy of the horse shows and the cities that they are featured in. I also am drawn to the combinations of varying typefaces such as the script calligraphy with a traditional san serif font. One design element that I noticed in both of the campaigns was the motion that is suggested by the horses. In all of them, it looks as though they are stills of the stages of a horse jumping over the jumps also suggests the stages of the multi-city events. Using this element brings the designs together to make an effective campaign that unites all of the posters as one.
