Graphic Design 1 - Grid System as Backbone of Every Good Design
Grid System as Backbone of Every Good Design
I love working with the grid system for design projects because of the the horizontal and vertical lines serve as an easy guide to help me place elements of my designs in a organized manner. As someone who is a very organized person I like this system because it allows me to organize in an artistic. The use of the layout is to guide me to make decisions that that going to give clarity and integrity to the design choices that I am making. I also feel that the modular grid makes it faster for me to work and properly organize my ideas on magazine spreads and other page layouts. From the reading I was able to see an example of the 12- column model the allows a designer to divide the page into different modules such as 2, 3, 4, and 6 columns. Looking at visual examples of the different types of layouts are already giving me ideas for different ways that I can layout my interior pages of my Magazine Assigment for this class.
Another part of the reading that I was interested in was the way in which design really started out as a collage the way in which the layout of a maganize was put manually together. I have become recently interested in to working collage in my artwork because I enjoy being able to manually shift and put elements together by hand.
