TSM - Invisible cities Reading
When reading the excerpts from the Invisible Cities reading I noticed the imagery that was used to describe the little towns that Marco Polo had visited. From the readings decriptions I was able to get a sense of what these towns were like and how the people interacted within their spaces. The descriptions were short sketches of the cities that Marco Polo had experienced, but the way in which they were written allowed the reader to feel as though they knew the cities. I immediately related it to the portait of the place project that we are currently working on during class to this reading. Even though this is a reading, the way in which imagery was used transported me to the specific places that were mentioned during the Invisible Cities reading. For the project that we are working in class we are working with translating a space with video art. To make a portait of a place it is necessary to elicit emotions and sensations through visual imagery and sound. For this project I want to make sure that I incorporate my passions for either my Catholic faith or my strong connection to my trip to Ireland in this video project.
