Three Posters

                                                          THREE MOVIE POSTERs

                                                   THE ENDLESS SUMMER

This poster has become iconic for those who follow the surf world. The Endless Summer poster has a pop art style to it that keeps the poster very simple but very successful. The black silhouettes create a high contrast with the popping warm tones of the yellow, orange, and pink. The three men holding their surfboards keeps the picture relaxed which is the way of life that these surfers live. Many have found inspiration to use the layout and color scheme from this iconic poster in their work.

     WATER FOR ELEPHANTS

One of the biggest things you hear from people is to not judge a book by its cover. But as someone who is drawn to art sometimes I want the to intrigue me and catch my attention. For me one that comes to mind is the book "Water For Elephants". The figure in the red pops from the neutral cover filled with gray and green hues. It grabs our attention and makes us wonder were the figure is going. The text and layout style captures elements of the 1920's era and circus theme which gives a hint to the setting of the book.

LITTLE MISS SUNSHINE

The "Little Miss Sunshine" poster was mentioned in the top 50 best movie posters according to Empire. This 2006 indie film poster is a perfect example of less is more. The black title stands out from the bright yellow background which creates a great contrast. The small to large text directs your eye to follow from left to right. The same goes for the cast who is running toward the yellow Volkswagen. The scene represents a common comedic occurrence that happens within the film. It shows the dysfunction of the family and the adventure that they have when they need to use the car.
