Hello,

My name is Alaina and I am just beginning my first year in college as a visual arts major for graphic design. I never imagined myself wanting to pursue a career in art. For the longest time I convinced myself that I would follow in the footsteps of my parents in the medical field. The idea of a career in the arts was always pushed in the back of my mind. Throughout high school I convinced myself that it would just stay a hobby of mine. It was then that I realized that I didn't want to become a nurse or a physical therapist, I truly wanted to become a graphic designer. I loved looking at the layouts, designs, photos, and illustrations in magazines. I found a deep inspiration through Joanna Gaines and her work. Joanna's simplistic style that she incorporated in her magazine, Magnolia Journal and the interior design she did for her clients inspired me to want to create layouts and designs like hers. 

As I am beginning my journey in college I hope to develop a greater appreciation for art and design that is surrounded in our everyday lives. I want to learn new skills that will better me as an artist and push me to new ideas that are outside of my comfort zone. I am excited to become immersed in a new environment that will help me start this new journey in my life.
